GRAPES N’ BARRELS ANNOUNCES ITS 2014 WINTER WINEMAKING PROGRAMS

We supply everything you need … YOU make the wine! Anytime!

Winter Winemaking Begins February 15th!

We are making select wines utilizing quality ‘frozen grape must’. The process entails virtually the same steps as making wines from fresh grapes with the exception of ‘crushing’ grapes. That’s already done. Grape must is thawed and ready for fermentation at your first session.

Sign-up for one of our open winemaking sessions scheduled throughout the months of February and March. See events calendar for dates and time.

Price of only $350 For Two Participants.
A truly educational, hands-on winemaking experience: You craft your own wine! Learn the art and science of making wine in three 2-hour sessions.  After wine-aging of about 8 months, you take home 1 Case (12 Bottles) of your very own artisan wine. Additional cases available at $150. each.

Make Your Wine in Three Easy Two-Hour Sessions:

Session I The Fermentation Process:
You’ve selected your wine. Frozen Grape Must has been thawed out and we are ready to begin fermentation: We need to take measurements such as Specific Gravity, pH, and Brix (sugar content). We then hydrate the specific yeast required for fermentation. Fermentation lasts about 14 days… and entails the natural process of converting sugar to alcohol.

Session II Press Grapes:
Once we have completed primary fermentation, it is time to press the ‘grape must’ in order to leave behind all skins and seeds …and literally squeeze-out every ounce of wine we can.  Every drop of wine is precious to us! We then transfer all of the wine to an American Oak Barrel to begin the process of secondary fermentation which will last about 2-3 months. Tracking and Racking are handled by GNB Staff as required.

Session III Bottle and Label:
At Grapes N’ Barrels, our primary focus in on the quality of the wine produced. The duration of barrel aging is dependent on teh the type of wine and those special characteristics we seek int the wine. Most artisan wines can be bottled in about 8-10 months. Affix your own personalized label on your wine… then enjoy it …or gift it …and always celebrate life with a glass of your own wine in hand. Salute!
