If you've ever wanted to make wine... now is the time! Grapes N' Barrels makes it easy for you to get started. Our winemaking process entails three 1-hour activities. The program is designed to be informative, interactive, and fun. The focus for this winemakers group will be on crafting a classic Petite Sirah.
Premium quality, fresh grapes are arriving from California. The grape harvest has been described as abundant and superb due to weather conditions during the growing season. In short: Great grapes produce great wine! Let us guide you through the essential steps for making your own special 2013 Pitite Sirah. This wine is a blend of grapes including the primary Petite Sirah, some Zinfandel, and a touch of Valiguie (Valdiguie is also known as Napa Gamay). The combination of these three varietals produces a full body wine, good tannin content, with aromas of spice and dark berries, a bold and fuller round mouth feel, an unique lingering taste, with hints of dark fruit. This is a very special blend that serious winemakers cherish... you will too!
During the first session: You will use a professional crusher-destemmer to crush the grapes into a ‘grape must’ for primary fermentation. Fermentation lasts about 10-14 days... and entails the natural process of converting sugar to alcohol. After fermentation, your second session will be focused on 'pressing' the grape must to assure we 'squeeze-out' every drop of wine we can. The wine is then placed in an American oak barrel for aging. In about 8 months, at your third session, you will bottle and label your very own artisan, private label wine. You can enjoy your wine when celebrating life’s special moments with those near and dear. And remember, no gift will be more appreciated than the wine you hand-crafted for that special someone, client, or loved one …for any occasion.
Join the fun at Grapes N Barrels... gather friends, family, co-workers to make wine. You’re welcome to bring snacks, your favorite wine, and have a festive and memorable winemaking experience. Salute!
2013 Will Become A Special Vintage Wine Year! You'll be proud to call this ' very special' Petite Sirah your own!
Introductory Special Price of only $350/Case (12 Bottles) ...and second case for $150!
SPECIAL WHITE WINE OPPORTUNITY: In addition to red wine, on this date, we will be making a white wine varietal from wine juice: Chablis (A white, light, refreshing, and dry wine). Making white wine involves a different winemaking process than with red wine from fresh grapes. We are offering both Petite Sirah and Chablis.
Participants at this session will experience the Red Grape Crushing and Pressing... and also have the opportunity to see white wine juices fermenting. If you decide that you want only white wine...or, if you want some white wine in addition to your red wine... we can accommodate you at the same price...plus a discount on a second case.
